In this procedure, you will create a new Autotask API security level that allows associated API resources to impersonate other Autotask contacts and resources when making API calls.
To create a new Autotask API security level with rights to impersonate other contacts and resources:

In order to complete the following steps, you will need to login to Autotask as a user with full administrative rights.
Procedure #
- Login to Autotask
- Hover the top-left Autotask mega-menu; click Admin
- On the top row of tabs, click Account Settings and Users
- Click to expand the section Resources/Users (HR)
- In the Security section, click Security Levels
- Review your current list of security levels. If you already have a security level called API User w/ Full Impersonation Rights (API-only), then you can skip the remainder of these steps.
- On the existing security level called API User (system) (API-Only), right-click, then click Copy Security Level
- Set the Name field to API User w/ Full Impersonation Rights
- At the bottom, on the Web Services API section, click Full Permission
- At the top of the window, click Save & Close
